TDR“HYPERTENSION”REEDS aremade of the highest qualitymaterial available. This material is customdesigned byTDR to give the best possible performance and have a longworking life-span. All reeds are measured on an electronic digital indicator for thickness and then coded for easy reference. The object of any race tuner is to increase the power of their machine. The real trick to this ne tuning is to get a maximumperformance gain with the smoothest possible power band. TDR“HYPERTENSION”REEDS use a TensionReducingSpacer to reduce the bending resistance of the reed petal. This spacer allows the reed to open quicker. The quick response action of the reed allows the fuel-air mixture to enter the engine faster. With this faster intake action there is an increase in throttle response and low speed performance! The tension reducing spacer also acts as a progressive tensioning device. The spacer is made of .015” thick material. By putting it on top of the reed petal it creates a gap between the reed and the reed stop. This gap allows the reed to pivot easily at its newpivot point. As the reed continues to open it now comes in contact with the reed stop. By contacting the stop the tension of reed petal is increased. This action creates a progressive tension that increases with rpm and air ow. Finally, the “Hyper Tension” petal design comes into play. Standard reeds are of multiple petal design. All multiple design reeds will utter from low to high RPM’s. The faster the motor runs the worse the utter. Flutter disturbs the velocity, (air speed), and decreases the overall air ow. By changing the reed design to a single or double petal instead of multiple petals the velocity and overall air ow is increased and the motor produces more mid to top end Horsepower! With all of these unique features the new “Hyper Tension” reeds will outperform and outlast all reeds on the market today!
TDR “CARBON FIBER” REEDS are produced under strict parameters to meet the require- ments of today’s high performance engines. TDR“CARBONFIBER”REEDS aremade of the latest in advanced compositematerials. Tony Dou- kas Racing has worked extensively with aerospace plastic engineers to develop a material that is far superior to the standard shelf variety of carbon ber weaves. Combine thismaterial with a high temperature epoxy resin, breakdown and premature reed failure are virtually eliminated. These customdesignedmaterials aremanufactured speci cally for TonyDoukas Racing to be used for two stroke reed applications. This woven fabric has been developed and tested tomeet the unique high strain to failure requirements associated with today’s high revving two stroke motors. TDR uses many various styles and designs of this fabric to meet the exact tension requirements of each motor. The lifting tension is the controlling factor of the complete intake system. By changing the lifting tension of the reed petal the motor power band will be a ected. Using a lighter tension reedwill allow your motor to come on to the power-band at a lower RPM. Using a heavier tension reed will produce a harder mid-range and top-end hit. The standard TDR“CARBON FIBER” REED will give you the best overall performance. You can also order all TDR reed applications in di erent tensions to meet any special requirements.
